FOREST INVENTORY

Forest inventories document the composition of the forest to exacting detail.  Inventories collect data on entire stands or on a small plot of land. Field data may consist of timber measurements, vegetation species and percent cover, woody debris and substrate, soils, and ecosite classification.

This information is used by forest managers to make decisions regarding levels of harvest and retention, and to refine models used to predict the forests growth.
